Ambassador Hotel Oklahoma City
The beautiful Ambassador Hotel in Oklahoma City served as the perfect launch pad for our OKC weekend getaway! The hotel is located in the Midtown District of OKC and is housed in the historic Osler building, originally built in 1928 as offices associated with the University of Oklahoma Medical School. When Coury Hospitality purchased the building in 2012 to transform it into the luxurious hotel it is today, they kept the original facade and medical insignia above the ornate entryway as a nod to the building’s past. This transformation of a historic building into a posh boutique hotel exemplifies the type of revitalization that is currently taking place across OKC – making this the perfect time to visit!
Our Room at The Ambassador
From the time we checked in to the time we checked out, the staff at the Ambassador was extremely friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself is warm and welcoming with tastefully chosen decor that lends a sense of effortless elegance to the space. We absolutely loved our hotel room! It was spacious and modern, yet comfortable and relaxing. We sank into the bed after a long, exciting day of exploring the city and got one of the best night sleeps we’ve had in quite awhile.
The bathroom was bright and airy and had windows overlooking the courtyard entryway. It was well-stocked with luxurious toiletries, perfect for pampering yourself during your stay. The soaker tub and walk-in shower further enhanced the spa-like tranquility of the space.
The Food | Viceroy Grille
The Viceroy Grille is housed on the first floor of the Ambassador and offers an exquisite variety of dining options for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch on the weekends. The restaurant has an intimate yet relaxed vibe and it’s cuisine is modern with an upscale twist.
Some of our favorites from the dinner menu included the Roasted Beet Salad, the Dry-packed Scallop Saffron Risotto, and the Prime Flank Steak Stroganoff. The Roasted Beet Salad was comprised of a goat cheese fritter atop a bed of rocket, beets, and chili toasted pepitas perfectly dressed with a walnut vinaigrette. The Scallop Saffron Risotto was elevated by a decadent vanilla beurre blanc and the wilted baby kale added a a healthy twist. Finally, the Prime Flank Steak Stroganoff delighted the senses with a savory combination of wild mushroom and shallot egg noodles and a dill sour cream sauce.
The desserts at the Viceroy Grille are certainly not to be missed. The Creme Brulee was excellent, but the strawberry shortcake creation pictured above was everything dessert dreams are made of!
Shop Barbie’s Dinner Outfit
Right across from the Ambassador Hotel are several additional restaurants, a quaint coffee shop, and a fabulous boutique called mode where we found some amazing deals on jewelry and shoes in addition to a lot of cute clothing.
The Rooftop Bar | O Bar
The Ambassador Hotel also features an amazing rooftop bar, O Bar, with fantastic views of the city and an extensive drink menu featuring a solid variety of wine, signature cocktails, and beers. O Bar is the perfect place to watch the sunset over the city, to have pre-dinner drinks, or to grab a nightcap before turning in. In addition to excellent drinks, O Bar offers a food menu prepared by the Viceroy Grille. The menu offers an upscale take on bar food, featuring options ranging from a Seafood Platter to Artisinal Cheese and Charcuterie Boards to something a bit more substantial like Grilled Prime Flank Frites.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ambassador in Oklahoma City and are eager to come back soon for another stay! The city has so much to offer that it was impossible to fit everything into one weekend getaway. We highly recommend staying at the Ambassador the next time you find yourself in OKC. While you’re at it, make sure to stop by O Bar for a glass of wine and one of the best views of the city and make a reservation at the Viceroy Grille for an unforgettable meal.
