If you’ve ever been traveling in or out of San Antonio on highway 281 you’ve most likely seen a gorgeous structure sitting high on a hill top. This is what happened to us numerous times as we were making the trek from Dallas to San Antonio and back. Each time we wanted to stop but were on a time crunch or had our pups with us. Finally, a few weeks ago Barbara and I were driving back from a beautiful weekend spent with friends and family and since it was just the two of us we said let’s stop at the Arc de Texas!

The Arc de Texas is a wine bar and tasting room that offers some of the best panoramic views in Texas! Even though we went on a cloudy, rainy day we were amazed at the beauty that surrounded us. Seriously, the views from the rooftop terrace are stunning to say the least!

The Arc is situated on Lighthouse Hill Ranch, a 2,000 acre private ranch close to Fredericksburg, Texas. Arc de Texas is a popular stop with Fredericksburg wine tours and we can see why. While we were there a bachelor party even stopped in! Yes, bachelor party, you read that right and those guys looked like they were having a blast!

The décor at Arc de Texas is elevated with a Texas meets Paris, France vibe. That being said, it’s still super laid back and comfortable. The staff is extremely friendly and they even have a sweet dog that came by to say hi to us while we were wine tasting. So, yes, they’re dog friendly! Another fantastic plus as we’re often times road tripping with our pups!

A Unique Wine Tasting Experience in Texas

Unlike many Texas wineries, they’re not limited to just providing wines from Texas. They also provide wines from around the world along with a great selection of craft beer and light snacks and gourmet chocolate.

We loved exploring Arc de Texas! First, we checked out their wine bar room on the ground floor first and after tasting a few wines we bought a glass and headed up to their rooftop terrace to enjoy the beautiful Texas hill country views. Not only are they a wine bar with epic views they also have suites that you can rent out along with a fantastic pool!

The Arc de Texas offers 4 private suites and there are 6 private homes out on the ranch making for the perfect Texas weekend getaway. Dogs and horses welcome! Each elegant suite has full access to the resort-style pool, private grotto, roof-top terrace and outdoor grill. You also can ride their ATVs, go horse back riding, fishing and stand up paddle boarding. Love it!
