Restaurant Review: Casa Rubia
We love Tapas! Having had authentic, incredibly delicious tapas in Spain while listening to Spanish guitar and watching Flamenco we are proud and very excited that Dallas has some tapas spots that do authentic tapas justice. That is exactly why we couldn’t wait for Casa Rubia in the cool Trinity Groves to open. We asked to be seated outside on their pretty patio since the weather was nice and they also had live music.
We started with their Red Sangria that had hints of plum. It was wonderful, well-balanced and not too sweet – very refreshing! The orchid was a nice touch too.
We love olives and these “Aceitunas” a combination of Arbequina olives confit with orange, herbs and garlic didn’t disappoint.
This was a stand out dish, the “Alcachufas” was comprised of crispy artichokes with Meyer lemon, Fresno chile Mojama, and Saffron Aioli. Tasty!
Another fantastic dish was the “Setas” Maitake mushrooms with smoked pear butter, farm egg, Manchego and a dusting of herbs. We will definitely be ordering this again!
Croquetas
We could have ordered 5 more of these “Vieiras”. Scallops with Trumpet Mushrooms, olive oil potatoes espuma, tapenade and a sherry brown butter.
Please note, the portions are tiny (Hello, tapas! We heard people next to us complaining about the size) but each bite delivers a burst of flavor, so eat slowly and savor the delicious moments! Not only were the dishes quite tasty, they were also beautiful. We can’t wait to come back here and try their Paella and cheese plate. It’s also a fantastic spot for a date!
Cheers!
