Cook Hall at the W Dallas

With the closing of Craft comes Cook Hall, aimed at providing Dallas with an American gastropub. The atmosphere is laid back but still aesthically pleasing with dark wood, leather, bronze beading and cement pillars all being thrown into the mix – from the Edison lightbulbs to the vintage culinary themed artwork there’s something really inviting about Cook Hall. We went for lunch since it is just across the street from the office. (lucky us!)

The “Crispy Duck Tacos” were absolutely delicious. They came with three to an order, which was enough to satuisfy lunchtime hunger. The duck was sweet, succulent and crispy on the outside. The coleslaw with chipotle mayo was just the right amount of heat to accompany the duck and the spritz of fresh lime really really brought it all together.

It being a celebratory lunch we splurged and ordered the nutella torte. (I have long been a fan of nutella, ever since the days that I would wander the “rues” of Paris searching for the next freshly baked pastry or baquette to accompany a generous swath of nutella.) The torte was delicious, especially with the multiple textures it offered; you have the crunch of the crust and hazelnuts, the the melt in your mouth nutella, topped off with a dark chocolate shell accompanied by freshly whipped cream – delightful.
