Staycation at the JW Marriott San Antonio
For Fourth of July we entertained a few ideas and finally landed on driving down to San Antonio to spend the weekend with our family. We wanted to make it extra special, especially since we drive to San Antonio from Dallas often, so we decided to put our credit card points towards travel and splurge a bit! We booked one night at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa and we’re so happy we did!
Day 1 | JW Marriott San Antonio
Driving up to the resort is beautiful and the winding roads and gorgeous Hill Country landscape fills you with excitement and anticipation. Upon arrival, we were greeted with smiles and friendly, attentive customer service. We checked into our comfortable room with a heavenly king size bed and this spectacular view and water feature right outside our window!
Hotel Amenities
The JW Marriott is a prime destination for memorable vacations right in the heart of Texas Hill Country! When we arrived on Saturday we decided to check out Lantana Spa and their private pool area, especially because the resort’s nine-acre water park with a lazy river was wildly crowded. As an adult staying at the JW Marriott in San Antonio, it’s a huge plus to have multiple pools to choose from. For $15 we were able to use many amenities at the Lantana Spa, such as the whirlpool, steam room, saunas, and aromatherapy relaxation room (a personal favorite).
If you book a spa service then you don’t have to pay the additional $15. While relaxing at the Lantana Spa pool, we read, swam and ate healthy and delicious food prepared by the spa’s restaurant. Another fantastic bonus is that the spa pool also offers a full bar menu. I started out with a tasty, creamy and refreshing pina colada and then had some champagne a bit later. This made for a wonderful day in complete relaxed bliss and we are so happy we made the choice to hang out at the Lantana Spa for the majority of the day.
Dinner at 18 Oaks Steakhouse
Following a relaxing day at the pool, we headed back to our room to get ready for dinner at 18 Oaks Steakhouse. JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort has seven restaurants on property, which is pretty amazing in and of its self and we kept hearing such great things about 18 Oaks so we were extremely pleased to be able to book one of their last reservations for the evening. Tip: I hear they also have one of the best brunches in all of San Antonio!
Barbara and I get our love of travel and food from our incredible parents. It’s always the best time being with them and we love to get together and enjoy delicious food and wine and share stories and just relish in the joy of sharing each other’s company. I love these pictures because they really showcase how much of a wonderful impact our mom and dad have had on our life. The expression on our Dad’s face – priceless. Love them so much!
After a delicious dinner of scallops, shrimp cocktail, wedge salads and perfectly cooked Zeeman Ranch Texas Wagyu file, we relaxed on the expansive patio and watched the fireworks while finishing our bottle of Amici wine. Then we strolled along the grounds, walking off at least a bit of our dinner, and fell asleep in some of the most comfortable beds we’ve ever slept in.
Day 2 | JW Marriott San Antonio
We opted for a late checkout so we could continue to take advantage of all that the JW Marriott had to offer. We fueled up with a healthy and quite flavorful breakfast at the Lantana Spa’s restaurant ‘Replenish Spa Bistro’ (omelette & fresh fruit pictured below), along with some much needed coffee. Starbucks fans rejoice – they also have a Starbucks in the resort!
Since we had spent the previous day at the Lantana Spa pool, we decided to venture over to the water park area where there is also an adult only infinity pool with gorgeous views of the 36-hole on TPC San Antonio golf course. Complete bliss & total serenity! P.S. I highly recommend ordering the Mai Tai!
