Alderbrook Hotel Review

On a recent trip to Washington, we stayed at Alderbrook Resort for several nights and absolutely fell in love with the gorgeous scenery and relaxing accommodations. The resort was founded in 1913 and has been an area staple ever since. It is perfect for a relaxing couples getaway or even a fun family vacation.

The resort is nestled along the Hood Canal and is surrounded by the regal Olympic Mountains, making for an exceptionally stunning backdrop.

Alderbrook Hotel & Spa

Everything about our stay at Alderbrook was exquisite, from the courtesy and friendliness of the staff to the attention to detail apparent in the top-notch accommodations.

The Food:

Being foodies, it is always important that we have access to delicious culinary options wherever we stay. The restaurant at Alderbrook did not disappoint. The restaurant offers a “Shore to Table” dining experience that focuses on making local seafood the star of the menu. Much of the seafood is harvested from the Puget Sound and Hood Canal fresh daily.

The restaurant also has a nice wine selection, featuring many wines from the Pacific Northwest. Both the restaurant and bar boast immaculate views of the Hood Canal, perfect for basking in the gorgeous scenery and enjoying the sunset.

We were pleased to find a variety of healthy options on the restaurant’s menu. We love to start the morning off right with a delicious yogurt parfait topped with granola and fruit.

The restaurant’s lunch and dinner options were on-point as well. Below is the Hummus Plate with grilled pita, marinated feta, mixed olives, cured tomatoes, and pickled vegetables.

The Chopped Cobb with iceberg & romaine lettuce, bleu cheese, cured tomatoes, poached egg, dungeness crab, prawns, and champagne vinaigrette was perfect for lunch and fueled our late-afternoon activities.

The boys loved the Alderbrook Burger with smoked cheddar, pickled onions, butter lettuce, tomato aioli, and candied bacon on a brioche bun!

Being major pasta lovers, we had to try the Campanelle & Cheese with cheddar béchamel, toasted bread crumbs, and crab! Yum!

The Steelhead served with buttered lentils, leeks, turnips, mapled garlic, and fennel salad was a wonderful combination of flavors that truly highlighted and accentuated the fresh fish.

For dessert, the Chocolate Pot de Creme with cherry-almond chocolate biscotti and mocha whipped cream was divine – the perfect ending to a delicious meal.

Pacific Northwest Hiking:

There are several hiking trails located within walking distance of the resort, making it super convenient to take a morning hike and get your exercise in while on vacation. The nature trails boast stunning views of the Olympic Mountains and Hood Canal, so make sure to bring your camera!

One of our favorite activities was hiking in the Olympic National Park. The park offers multiple hiking trails, ranging in distance and difficulty levels.

Being located on the beautiful Hood Canal, the resort also has various water activities, to include swimming, kayaking, paddle boating, fishing, crabbing, seal watching, and boating. And no trip would be complete without a dip in the glass-enclosed waterfront heated saltwater indoor pool over-looking the Hood Canal.

For the golf enthusiasts, the Alderbrook Golf Club is located near the resort and consistently ranks as one of the top 25 courses in the Northwest for play-ability and the beautiful scenery. You can also reserve the outdoor tennis courts through the front desk of the resort if you’re feeling extra active!

Always loving to be pampered, we especially enjoyed the resort’s spa and found it to be extremely relaxing and rejuvenating.
